Our stellar reputation in the industry has been built by solving complex building problems. With over 25 years of experience investigating problems in existing structures, it is very likely that we have seen the problems your building is facing many time before. Put simply, we know what works.
When we recommend to a client to perform investigative opening at their building, it is because our experience leads us to believe a serious problem in the envelope of the building is putting structural components at risk.
Serious problems need serious answers and because the actual building construction often deviates from the blueprints, looking into the wall cavity will provide you with a complete picture of what is occuring and the extent of any damage that exists.
This investigation uncovered a crack in the thru-wall flashing system that was leaking water into the building interior. Locating the problem allowed the owners to repair the problem before water infiltration created a serious mold condition.
Where is this rust oxidation staining coming from? The answer is, inside the wall. In this case, the deterioration of the internal support bracket and pack rust build-up is forcing the brick to bulge outward. This will quickly become a dangerous situation to pedestrians below. Prompt investigation can avoid further deterioration and potential litigation later.
This wall has moisture problems. Finding the source is the first step in solving the problem. Typically in a location like this, most of the infiltration is caused by failure of the mortar in the rowlock brick sill or failure of the window sill.
Don't let your minor water infiltration issues become a building cancer. There are over 16,000 species of mold, some of which can be deadly. Stachybotrys chartarum, also known as black mold, frequently forms when water is infiltrating a building. Unfortunately it also happens to produce one of the most dangerous forms of mycotoxins which are extremely toxic, suspected carcinogens and is immunosuppressive.
Our team utilizes state of the art thermographic equipment to see what is happening inside the walls before opening them. Then restoration experts will provide you with a report on the condition of the building, along with investigation or repair recommendations as well.
Are you already working with an architect or engineer? We can help them in their investigative work. Do you need to find a qualified engineer? We can provide you with referrals to competent architects & engineers familiar with masonry façade problems.
"... we installed a cornerstone of our own, announcing that this church was "Built 1865, Restored - 1999," and within its time capsule we enclosed the names of the Building Restoration Corporation, its owner, the job foreman, and the name of every BRC craftsman who worked on this project. From the quality of their work, I don't expect that we will have to do another complete exterior restoration of this church for another 140 years. And when our successors open this time capsule, these men will be rightly recognized and honored again for their excellence in construction.
